Economics in Marketing Response.

America was built on the basis of capitalism. Government is not capitalism. The government is us. We choose people to represent us – all America – equally and to the benefit of all. Those elected people are supposed to make laws based on what we want as a county. When the government (supposedly us) decides okay, we will buy bank A but let Bank B fail we have gone against what we base our county on. All businesses should flourish or fail based on their own merits. If the government decided to financially back homecare company A but let homecare company B fail, where is the justice. What gives government the right to decide? Everyone has the opportunity to work, earn money, make money, start a business etc. When the government (elected officials) say ok we are now going to buy up all the houses that have been foreclosed on it completely upsets the economic system of capitalism. All of those people entered in to a contract. The government should not have the right to negate that contract and if they don’t pay the bank should reclaim the property.

These are some great points that you raise. It's true, some banks were selected to be bailed out and others were allowed to go out of business. When considering the different banks, what do you feel were the important differentiating factors the government weighed when deciding whether to keep a bank afloat or let it fail? When a bank has a home loan nearing foreclosure, do you think they'd rather proceed with the foreclosure process or set up a plan to keep the mortgagee in the home on an alternative pay plan? Why?
